Reflection

I am sure I am not alone in hoping that my artwork has some lasting value that perhaps it has an endurance or permanence beyond the lifespan of the materials or even that it makes a lasting impression on someone no matter how small the intervention. At the beginning of the year Baltimorebased artist and curator Laura Ammussen demonstrated the impression that my drawings had on her. She had Reflection tattooed upon her body.Below the original Reflection Ink pen on paper. 12 x 16 2008

My last solo exhibition at the Red Mill Gallery Vermont Studio Center VT marked the culmination a unique perdiod in my life having spent the best part of two years living and working on this artists and writers residency program in rual Vermont. My time at the Studio Center was an industrious one I created three bodies of work in two years dividing my time between environmental sculpture during the snowfree months and works on paper for the long and reflective winters. It was industrious and inspiring I met many talented and impassioned individuals from varying creative disciplines including my future husband. I remember it with fondness and gratitude.A Lines Life featured drawings and sculptures from 2008.In addition I exhibited my latest work We Are Each Other a storyboard currently consisting of 18 plates which I plan to to transfer to a book form.Viewers were invited to respond to the plates and share their own interpretation. If you are interested in learning more about this exhi...

November 2006 saw the opening of the Stearns Student Center in Johnson State College an environmenally sensitive building with artworks exhibited on a rolling program. One of my recent seed scultpures Adaptation6 will on display in Stearns Hall until the end of 2009.Adaptation6 is constructed from 3 materials one directly from nature ashmaple seed and the other two cotton and steel are derivative from nature. It explores mans complex relationship with the natural world our reliance and dependance upon it for construction and for industry. Each material is has a heirarchical dependancy upon another the tension created between the them becomes the focus of equilibrium. The 6 circles represent the traditional six working days of the week the balance and transience providing the seventh.Detail below.
